Trees taking on new growth of green marks Spring in Hill Country. View north from Hatley-Detroit Road between Parham and Splunge, Monroe County, Mississippi. The range of colors of newly emerged leaves makes Spring one of my favorite seasons in the hills.

Mature shade trees and rubble mark the ruins of a house on Gar Irvin Road, Monroe County, Mississippi.

Dark, damp, and shaded environment promotes algae and moss growth on the framework of an old farm building along Gar Irvin Road.

Large cedar trees with mature growth of green vines almost obscure an old farm storage building. Once the understory trees get completely leafed out, this structure will disappear into the foliage along the side of Gar Irvin Road.
